Join the Write the Docs Melbourne meetup (http://www.meetup.com/Write-the-Docs-Melbourne/). While this is Melbourne event to start with, a few tech writers around Australia are planning to make this a Australia wide meetup with events planned across Australia periodically. 

Write the Docs (writethedocs.org) is a global community of technical writers, designers, typesetters, developers, support teams, marketers and many others interested in documentation.

The first event in Melbourne is scheduled for Fri, 9th Sept (venue to be confirmed), between 6 and 7pm. 

This could be a great opportunity to network with people passionate about documentation and to be immersed in a global community of documentarians.
