Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2013
Thursday, May 9, 2013
6:00 PM

On May 9, we invite you to participate in Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD). The purpose of the day is to get people talking, thinking and learning about digital (web, software, mobile, etc.) accessibility and users with different disabilities.

While the target audience of GAAD is primarily the design, development, usability and related communities, the event is open to anybody who may be interested in the topic of making technology accessible and usable by persons with disabilities.

While we’re still in the process of organising things, and will provide further details when we have them, we have confirmed presentations from:
Dey Alexander - Making Accessibility Accessible
Kim Chatterjee
Adam Kendall & Chris McLay - Good design is accessible

We’ve secured RMIT’s building 80 (The Swanston Academic Building) located at 445 Swanston Street as a venue, which not only looks cool but should also be sufficiently accessible.

Venue details:
The Cinema
Swanston Academic Building
Bld 80, level 1, room 2
Swanston Street

Accessibility:
Level 1 can be accessed from the Swanston Street entrance, via lift.
Direct access is available from Stewart St.

Catering:
Food and drinks are not allowed inside the cinema, but there are places inside the building to buy drinks and snacks while while waiting for the presentations.

Please help us spread the word and make this event great by sending to those you think will be interested.

Finally, please confirm your attendance by RSVP'ing Yes via the meetup page: http://www.meetup.com/Melbourne-Web-Accessibility-Inclusive-Design/events/113451832/

I hope to see you on the 9th of May.

Thanks,
Adem Cifcioglu
