I have several suggestions:
== Living with Complexity by Don Norman
== Seductive Interaction Design by our own local pal Stephen P
Anderson
== The Inmates Are Running the Asylum: Why High Tech Products Drive Us
Crazy and How to Restore the Sanity by Alan Cooper
== Thoughtful Interaction Design: A Design Perspective on Information
Technology by Löwgren + Stolterman

however this list is only because I haven't read these yet!

There's also good lists of UX books here:
http://blog.semanticfoundry.com/2010/08/25/the-ux-canon-essential-reading-for-the-user-experience-designer/

What about finding a book that's also available online or on Kindle?
(or Lendle?)

Cone - thanks for the suggestions... these look terrific... However, we decided on Gestural Interfaces as our first book. We just need to decide the where and the when...

Folks?  When would you like to meet?  How about Sat. Nov. 5? At a Starbucks? Cafe Brazil?  My house?

Let me know by Friday and let's get this thing scheduled!

Elisa

I missed your august post announcing first book and summary of poll! I
had been wondering, probably like Cone, what was happening. A Saturday
at Starbucks is best for me, but nov 5 is now only 4 weeks away! How
about nov 12? Judy

I can't do the 12th, as I'll be going to Austin to speak at Lavacon.

Perhaps the 19th?

This is less than 2 weeks away now - can someone remind me what the
book is? LOL.

I thought that we were going to read Gestural Interfaces... although I do not yet have a copy.  Given a Sat... we have met at Starbucks Midway @ Beltline... although that is just a suggestion.

How about Nov. 26?

Hi, I'm newbie but I'm assisting the organizer Crispin now.
I apologize to confuse everyone, but I'd like to postpone the meeting
to December.

This time, let's make this really happen. =)
Please let me know if Dec. 12th (Sat) or 19th (Sat) will work for you.

Thank you!
-yuki

or 17th (Sat).
