Next up for the Dallas UX Book Club:

Designing for the Social Web by Joshua Porter

Wednesday, June 23, 7 pm

Starbucks, Mockingbird Station

Facilitator: Well, we need one. Anyone interested?

From the Back Cover:

Designing for the social web is about much more than adding features.
It’s about embracing the social interaction of the people who make you
successful—and then designing smartly to encourage it.

You’ll discover:
• The real reasons why people participate online and the psychology
behind them
• The Usage Lifecycle—or how people use your web application over time
• How to get people past that trickiest of hurdles: sign-up
• What to do when you’ve launched a web application and nobody is
using it
• How to analyze the effectiveness of your application screens and
flows
• How to grow your social web application from zero users to 1000—and
beyond

Any chance of moving this book to a Saturday in July or early
August?
Then I could facilitate the discussion, but I am not available this
week in June. Thanks for the reminder Janice.

Also, as we discussed Saturday, maybe every other month would work
better and Saturdays seem to get better attendance.

Depending on work needs, moving it would work for me. I also totally
agree with the thoughts about moving meetings to Saturdays and going
to an every-other-month format. Sorry to have been MIA so much lately
but I have been just slammed with work (which is nice, but balls do
tend to get dropped!)

Hello,

Moving the discussion for Designing for the Social Web by Joshua
Porter is okay with me. Judy, since you're willing to facilitate, why
don't you pick the date and let us know.

As for me, right now, I would prefer Saturday, July 10 or 17. (I'm
booked the afternoons of Jun 26 and July 24.)

Janice

p.s. Crispin, we understand about work and appreciate how much you did
throughout the year in keeping us going!
