Dear All,
Greetings from UWONET.
We are pleased to share a call from GIZ for SME ecosystem actors and business owners.
The Employment Promotion for Women for the Green Transformation in Africa (WE4D) program is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). It is a multi-donor initiative with additional funding from the European Union (EU) and Norway. The program aims to enhance women's employment in green transformation sectors by supporting businesses that produce eco-friendly goods or adopt sustainable practices. It focuses on women, youth, and persons with disabilities, fostering economic growth and the creation of green jobs. In Uganda, WE4D is implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development (MGLSD), the lead government partner.
The GIZ WE4D Programme has launched a call for SMEs to apply for the Development of Integrated Management Systems (DIMS) Project. This initiative supports the establishment and adoption of modern Integrated Management Systems (IMS), including ISO 9001:2015 QMS, ISO 14001:2015 EMS, and ISO 45001:2018 OHS, within selected women-led enterprises in Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, and Malawi. The project focuses on SMEs and large companies in green sectors such as sustainable agriculture and agro-processing, eco-tourism, the blue economy and aquaculture, renewable energy, circular economy and waste management, biomass, transport and logistics, and construction.
