This email serves as an invitation to our 70th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) Side Event titled “Access to Justice in Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV): Are We Prepared for the Escalating Digital Threats?” scheduled to take place on 13th March, 2026 from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM EST (5:00 PM – 6:30 PM EAT) at Uganda House (Ground Floor). The event will be held in a hybrid format to accommodate both in-person and virtual participation.
This side event is being convened by UWONET, FIDA-Uganda, Rutgers International, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions of Uganda, in collaboration with PACER partners in Uganda, the Royal Danish Embassy, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Embassy of Sweden, and the Embassy of Ireland.
The discussion will examine the growing threat of online violence against women and girls, including cyberstalking, online harassment, and image-based abuse. It will also explore gaps in legal and policy frameworks, the readiness of justice institutions to respond to digital harms, and the role of technology platforms in addressing these violations. The session will conclude with practical recommendations for survivor-centered responses and strengthened multi-stakeholder coordination.
