Subject: Graduate Research Students Requests for Funding from to the Campus Research and Publication Fund Committee – March 2014

Subject: Graduate Research Students  Requests for Funding from to the Campus Research and Publication Fund Committee – March 2014

 

 

I write on behalf of  the Chair, Campus Research and Publication Fund advise that the Graduate Student Research Grants for the March 2014 period will not be invited at this time as our Graduate Student Funds have been exhausted.

 

Please be advised of the following:

 

(i)                Conference Funding has been reduced to a maximum of TT$10,000.00 (only paper/oral presentations) subject to strong support from the supervisor, Head of Department and the respective Deputy Dean (Graduate Studies).  These grant will be considered on a case by case basis.

 

(ii)              Postgraduate Training has been reduced to a maximum of TT$10,000.00  subject to strong support from the supervisor, Head of Department and the respective Deputy Dean (Graduate Studies).  These grant will be considered on a case by case basis.

 

(iii)           We are unable to approve funding for fieldwork at this time (until we could receive  additional funding granted to us from Jamaica and/or other sources, or the next year Centre Funds for both academic staff members and graduate research students for 2014/2015 academic year).

 

Due to the limited funding, we are asking for the support of the Deputy Deans (Graduate Studies) in all Faculties to thoroughly review all Graduate Student Grant Applications and indicate whether the grant application should be supported and the sum of funding that should be awarded before submission to the Office of Graduate Studies and Research.

 

Kindly note that the usual allocations for student grants (indicated in our Call for Applications: see website: http://sta.uwi.edu/research/funding.asp) will resume in September 2014 and that applications for funding for fieldwork from Graduate Research Students would be invited in September 2014.

 

We would be most grateful if you could inform the Graduate Research Students in your respective Departments accordingly.
