[uwebd] identity and asset management? (web-based?)

Hi, all! I haven't posted in ages -- since I left full-time university
employment and went freelance last year, I suppose. I'm still working
mostly in higher ed, as it turns out, and one of my clients has asked if I
can recommend or build them a web-based system for tracking employees'
assets.

I think what they're really after is an identity management system that
can track physical assets (ID cards, parking tags, keys) as well as user
account permissions. And this is not something I want to build.

What are your institutions using for this?

I realize this is getting more into IT and HR territory; if you'd prefer
to reply off-list, I'll report back with a concise list of the replies.
