[uwebd] 'Not dead yet'—UWEBD migrating to Akron now

A new dawn brings a change in plans:

Well, I guess I was wrong. The list will not die. I've shared the email addresses with Eric Kreider, U Akron, who will migrate it to a new server system. Thank you, Eric.

I might add that I have managed hundreds of online communities in various permutations of apps. Still have a bunch in Ning communities and other places.

The UWEBD list is the easiest one to manage, ever. Nothing but sane, reasonable, intelligent, hard-working professionals.

P.S. I still highly recommend the Ning community, cuwebd,ning.com, which has grown into a robust network under Mark Greenfield's management.

All, I am as sad to see this resource go as all of my list mates. So I'm willing to put some effort where my heart is. The University of Akron, (me :))  is willing to set up and maintain this list through our listserv software, Sympa.

Terry has agreed to share the addresses that are in his database and we will import them directly into our list. I will set this up so that all current users will get a confirmation email and have the opportunity to opt - in / out at that time.

If everything goes as I believe it will, the address will be uw...@lists.uakron.edu. As this is happening rather quickly, from Terry's perspective, please send any comments or suggestions to me directly at e...@uakron.edu until the list is up and running. I'm hoping I can have this ready to go by Thursday of this week.
