Hi everybody,
(First of all, a note: We know it's considered poor form for vendors in the higher ed market to post to this list. Forgive us! We're hiring, and we're looking for the perfect employee, and the people who read uwebd are precisely the people we're trying to reach. We hope you'll understand.)
White Whale Web Services, a provider of design and development services to colleges and universities nationwide— no, continent-wide!— is seeking a front end Web developer, with strong jQuery and very strong HTML/CSS skills, to add to our crack team of designers and coders. For more information about the position, visit our site:

Thanks.

Heh. Good point. On the other hand it is a job posting, likely a good
job, and good jobs are good things. Just imho.

Sorry for the delay, but I took the day off yesterday. First, I'd
fault Brian more because he reposted the whole blinking message he was
complaining about, so what did he gain? Second, I'd fault Jason first
for groveling about vendors posting because what he posted I wouldn't
call out of line -- he posted a job listing and job listings are
posted here all the time. What difference does it make that the post
came from a dot com? A job is a job these days for someone who needs a
paycheck. Now had he posted some type of solicitation for business,
then yes, slam him. I fault Jason second for the same thing I
occasionally complain about for just about every job posting that goes
up here -- a lack of details about WHERE the job is located. I've said
it before -- SELL YOUR LOCATION! I know some of us work in great
locations (although none can hold a candle to the mountains of
Southwest Virginia!). For all we know, Jason's company is in South
Nowhere, Nebraska, which is why he left out that detail, but for all
us busy folks who might be looking for a job or have a friend who
needs a job and don't have time to click a link, the simple addition
of "we are located in Lake Woebegon, Mn., all the women are strong,
all the men are good looking, and all the children are above average"
could mean the difference between "hmm, looks interesting, Cindy might
be interested in that" and "nah, too far from the beach/mountains/good
microbrews" </curmudgeon>
