Despite its name, YASS is open to all ages so might be a good option for your mom. There are a few other stroke support groups in the area (Tacoma, Bellevue, and Kirkland), as well. You can find contact information for all of them on the YASS website: http://seattleyass.weebly.com/resources.html.

There are also therapy services, including groups, available at a reduced rate through the University of Washington Speech and Hearing Clinic. For information on those options, contact our Clinic Director, Nancy Alarcon, at 206-543-5440. We also run aphasia support and education projects, as well as research, through the UW Aphasia Research Lab. If you'd like information about what we do, please give us a call at 206-685-2140.
