Hello Caregivers,

Last Saturday, at our regular caregiver support group meeting (details below), our conversation included the principles of neuroplasticity ("Use it or lose it"), as well as a particular patient who made great gains in aphasia treatment ~50 years after her stroke. Journal articles on both of these topics are attached.

Also, if you're interested in the Caregiving Conference coming up on June 2, you'll find more information here: http://www.altsa.dshs.wa.gov/caregiving/challengesConference.htm (note the early bird deadline was May 14, but they will continue with registration until full).

Take care,

Rebecca

YASS (Young Adult Stroke Survivors; all ages) meets the 3rd Saturday of each month (except July & August), 2-4pm at Northwest Hospital, Rehabilitation Center (seattleyass.weebly.com). Caregivers hold a facilitated support group in an adjacent room from 2:30-4pm.

I am looking for a stroke survivors support group for my mother who is 79  years of age and had a stroke 4 years ago.   She has a severe case of aphasia and I am wondering if there is a support group we could connect with.  Please let me know if there is a group other than the young survivors support group.

Thank you.
