Hello all,

The registration for the first UWC Day in New York City is now open at: http://alumconnect.org/ (website is currently a shell for a potential alumni App, so please pardon the limited funcitonality as we get it up and running)

Note that the event is limited to the first 70 people that sign up, though we can always have any additional people join us for the happy hour after!

UWC Day is a global celebration of the values of the UWCs. On September 21, UWC students, staff, parents, alumni, and volunteers around the world will be holding events and starting initiatives designed to showcase the UWCs’ vibrancy and ongoing commitment to bringing the UWCs’ values to life.

UWC Day @ NYC will be UWC International’s flagship event in New York for UWC Day. The event aims to further the mission of the day by bringing alumni together to celebrate UWC and to live the UWC mission in a fun and engaging way. UWC Day @ NYC is designed to provide opportunity for alumni to continue their UWC experience for a day. The program includes inspirational talks and workshops, as well as opportunities for networking.

Topic: “The UWC Experience & Your Career”

UWC alumni are a diverse and very talented bunch. We end up doing incredible things in all walks of life: arts, business, politics, international relations, philanthropy, etc. Even though our paths diverge widely, no matter what we do, most of us still share those traits that mark us as UWCers: the idealism, the never-ending curiosity, the sense of a larger purpose, the need to give back in ways large and small, the joy we feel when we meet fellow UWCers--because we know they’ll have great stories to share.

We’ve brought together a diverse and engaging group of UWC Alumni. They’re here to share their stories with us and to talk about how the UWC ideals and the UWC experience have been a part of their professional life in ways large and small.

Small Group Networking

After hearing our panelists talk about their career paths, we’ll split into smaller groups to have a informal conversations among alumni with similar career interests

“UWC Connect” workshops

How do we better engage UWC alumni? How do we leverage such talented and enthusiastic ex-students in an alumni organization? What’s the best structure? These are all questions that we want to start answering as a group. Many of us want to do more and to be more engaged alumni--to fundraise more, recruit more, do more community service...so how do we make that happen?

The following workshops are meant to be a first step in answering all these questions. We will share all the important points of our discussion with the UWC International Office as we work with them to figure out the best model for a truly functional global UWC Alumni network.
