JOB DETAILS:

 

The Human Factors team in Alberta Health Services (AHS) has an opportunity for a summer co-operative education student to support the provincial Patient Safety department. The Human Factors team provides leadership in promoting best practices in usability and patient safety. A successful candidate will have strong analytical, interpersonal, and collaboration skills, with a passion for usability and a creative eye for excellent design.

Start Date: May 2, 2016 / End Date: August 26, 2016

 

Duties:

- Reports to the Human Factors Manager.

- Support the Human Factors team through the application of expertise in human factors/usability engineering.

- Apply human factors methodologies (i.e. heuristic evaluation and usability testing) to examine processes and evaluate room designs, workflows, equipment, user interfaces, and forms

- Participate in job shadowing, interviews and focus groups; use quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze data; help prepare detailed reports and presentations of human factors evaluation results.

- Contribute to the design of solutions that improve patient safety.

- Willing to travel locally and throughout the province as needed.

 

To be considered for employment all candidates must be:

- Registered as a full-time post-secondary student in an accredited institution
- Currently recognized as having full-time status by the academic institution
- Returning for courses in the next academic term
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
