Could you please delete old messages for u.c.cs240, u.c.cs251 and u.c.cs350?

Thanks

I looked and there were no old articles in those groups on the
campus news server. The campus news servers is the only one we
can remove articles from. The old articles will be available
for years, even decades, from off-campus news servers and Google
Groups.

However I can still see those messages from S11 in Thunderbird. Actually
they are only the titles of the old messages, i.e. when you click on the
titles it shows
"Error
newsgroup server responded:Bad article number"

Is this something about Thunderbird? Old messages including titles were
always removed completely when I was using Outlook Express in previous
terms (this is the first term I am using Thunderbird). Do you have any
idea how I can have those titles removed?

Thunderbird holds on to header information about old articles
for as long as I tell it to, apparently independently of when
the articles are actually gone from the server. So it's possible
thunderbird doesn't detect an article's absence from the server
until you actually try to read it.

Near the top of the window, the Quick Filter's Unread option
displays only articles marked as unread. The Message menu, Mark
sub-menu, can be used to mark as read all articles older than
a user-specified date. (This is for thunderbird under Linux.
I don't know how different this is from thunderbird under WINDOWS.)
