I would like to be able to rlogin to the math machines from my home
(ADSL through proxy server) connection so that I can do things like CVS
remotely. I have the .rhosts file with my domain/userid in my school
home directory, but when I type rlogin -l myuname I get
rlogind: Permission denied.
in response. I have a feeling this is because the portmapper port is
not accessible from outside the home firewall/proxy server, or because
it's just not possible to rlogin from outside the school network. If
the former is the case, what port is it so that I can map it on the
proxy server?
Any suggestions/ideas?
We have win95 running SyGate 3.0/WinGate on the proxy server, and the
domain name specified in the .rhosts file is a dyndns.org one that
points to the proxy server via it's dynamically assigned address.
Attached is the strace rlogin output.
Please reply via email if it's convenient.
Thanks alot,
Colin
