non-interpolated 3D bar plot

Hi group - my what a busy little group this is.

On the off-chance that someone may pop in some time this year and happen
to know the answer to my question, I want to plot some data on a 3D
plot, but I don't want it interpolated.

When you do a surface plot, then choose scatter from the options, it
plots each point as a floating dot! But when you choose bar plot, it
creates a grid of bars, of the same height as the interpolated surface
plot. I just want a "manhattan diagram" of each of the points in the
matrix.

Any ideas?
