Does it cover all the lectures posted on the web, including the HCI?

I would think everything except the last lecture would be covered...
Don't take my word for it though.

Is it going to be based heavily on the lectures after the midterm? I
figure there are tons to memorize and understand the concepts of all
lectures. Plus, there's no sample exams to help with the preparations

Actually, the whole slide deck for the last lecture is not testable
material (I forgot I had broken it out into its own separate slide deck).

It covers everything except the "Mike's Rules" bit on the last lecture.
But certainly HCI research tidbits that intersect and reinforce concepts
taught in previous lectures would be fair game from that lecture.

I better not have to write a negative review of this exam at the end, sir...

Per my follow-up message, I forgot the HCI research lecture slide deck
was separate from the last lecture slide deck. That said, there are
topics covered in the HCI research lectures that echo previous lecture
content, making it worthwhile to understand the HCI research content.

I would argue that UI should be non-cumulative...
I bet the answer will be "every topic is equally likely" though =)

My mandate is to teach you concepts that will be of use to you after
class, across a range of contexts. So the goal is for you to learn,
retain, and integrate as much information as possible. Hence, anything
is fair game.

In considering lecture content, ask yourself what the larger message is
in each lecture; ask yourself what would be useful to know outside of
class; and ask yourself what theoretical constructs frame the lecture
content. And recall what I said would definitely be on the exam.

Fair enough, sir, fair enough.
Btw, is it possible to get our marks for the latest assignments if we
were to email you or one of the TAs?

You can pick up your assignments from me today (Friday) at 11AM.

Sir, you really think I have time to get away from my books? Two exams

You're incredibly rude. Just saying. Everyone has exams.

I fail to see a problem, the professor informed me of a pickup time and
I indicated that I would not be able to make it due to massive amounts
of cramming for my two finals.

P.S. You're supposed to use your uwaterloo id as the email associated
with the account ;)

It's not what you're trying to say, it's how you say it.

You speak as though you are entitled to getting your assignments back
at anytime you wish, and anytime that the professor offers that is
unsuitable for you is absolutely absurd.

I'm not referring to only this one post. A good portion of them
throughout the term show poor mannerisms. No one likes a know-it-all
and no one likes to be patronized. Choice of tone is very important
when communicating through the Internet, and it's very easy for people
to misinterpret how you're trying to say something. People can and
will get offended, and will think that you are being disrespectful or
rude.

I hope you understand what I'm trying to get at. Thanks.

Good luck on the exam.

As someone who didn't do very well in this course, and who was often
frustrated and intimidated by people posting higher-level comments, I
can appreciate you trying to take a seemingly arrogant poster down a
peg. But using the name "TrollDestroyer2" makes you seem less a noble
defender of the common student, more someone trying to feel superior
while hiding in a dark corner of their room. This is a student
newsgroups, for students. If you cannot show you are a student by
posting from your uwaterloo email account, please do not post.
