Everyday, new users log on to the Internet and engage in activities
such as, posting their websites or chatting with people around the
world. There are many reasons for the Internet零 popularity. Among these
is convenience and cost efficiency. The Internet has a large wealth of
information that is easily accessible. In this day and age, people can
get information on prices of stocks almost immediately through any
financial website. The Internet can also aid any shopper to find the
best deals online. Internet access enables consumers to have more
control and decision-making power on what products are worth their
money. The Internet can also be used for many educational purposes.
Online Encyclopedias, newspapers and magazine articles are all available
on the Internet for fast, easy and up-to-date information.

Although the Internet is a useful everyday tool, it also has several
disadvantages. One problem is the presence of harmful hackers who use
the Internet as a tool for spreading viruses and invading computer
databases for confidential information. Another problem with the
Internet is that with the volume of websites available, many may contain
false information. For this reason, one has to be careful about what
information they retrieve on the Internet. Also, chat rooms can be very
dangerous as well. Young children are often lured by "Internet
Predators" who may be harmful adults chatting with young kids online.
For these reasons and more, the Internet may not be as perfect as it
appears to be.

Amini's summary covers the social issue that computing imposes on
society very well. She discusses the main advantages that having a
computer holds as well as its major disadvantages. I agree with her
that the internet has a large wealth of information and is easily
accessible and can make lives for people a lot easier as tasks can be
accomplished by the click of a button. She mentions a very important
disadvantage too as Hackers pose a threat to many computer users and
especailly million dollar companies which rely on computers a lot. Her
summary is well written as well.

Reply: You provide many good points on the wonderful every day uses of
the internet, and how every day occurances such as the purchasing of
products, financial planning, as well as encyclopaedias and articles.
You also pose many interesting points about the dangers the internet can
pose in response to the personal information being delivered online.
The information was clear and concise, and very convincing of the
dangers evident with the internet. It will definitely make everyone
think twice before sending personal information over the internet.

I agree with what is said above, the internet is a great tool for many
people in our world today. It makes things so efficient for people in
their busy everyday lives. It also allows people to shop for something
they may be unable to get in their country with ease. This and other
things such as inernet chat lines allow people to communicate for
cheaper prices than such things as the phone.

At the same time there are also the negatives that must be dealt with.
The problem of internet predators is a huge one which is an ongoing
thing day in and day out. Young children are very vulnerable to these
people who use their age difference to lure these poor children in. All
in all personally I think the advantages over take the negatives. I
also believe that the negatives can be avoided easily through such
things as parents paying more attention and buying screening programs
for their computers.

i fully agree with this analysis of the Internet. The net can have so
many good levels to it since it makes life easier and more faster so one
can keep up with today's high speed society. But as with most things,
there is always the negative aspects, such as the dangers of online
'strangers" that can gain access to information that is private and
should not be viewed but them.

I complelety agree with the information stated above. The internet is a
wonderful tool if used properly, but it can also be a huge nightmare.
It's important that one understands the benefits and risks of the
internet before they use it so that they don't get themselves into
trouble. By this I mean it could be easy for someone to think that it's
great to go online to do their banking because it's much faster than
going to the bank and perhaps even less of an overall hassle. The
problem occurs however if they don't realize that the site they use has
to be a protected site or else anyone can access all of their personal
information they have just entered into the computer and this is when
problems such as fraud, theft, and even other serious problems such as
finding out where that person lives, which can be very scary.

Finding out everything you need to know before entering a site, and
especially entering any confidential/personal information on that site
is key. Everyone would be much happier if they knew the risks and were
able to avoid them before they accessed the internet. The problem from
their though is what to do when you have no control over some of the
problems that can arise.
