Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI)

Repetitive strain injuries or RSI, are "injuries involving damage to
muscles, tendons and nerves caused by overuse or misuse." This is the
definition given by the MIT web site on the subject. It continues to
describe the methods of obtaining these injuries:
… Repetitive tasks
… Awkward or fixed postures
… Forceful movements
… Insufficient rest time

These injuries are most common in the hands, wrists, fingers, arms,
shoulders, back etc. The web site describes the many different names
for some RSI¹s: such as tendinitis, tenosynovitis, ganglionic cysts and
the most heard of and usually most painful, is Carpal tunnel syndrome.
The article stresses the importance of several key positions, methods
of abstaining from these injuries for example:
… Posture
… chair
… Keyboard and Mouse
… The Monitor
… Work Area

The article goes on to show how these injuries lead to permanent
stress on the body, and physical pain. Unfortunately the stress can
only really be relieved by braces and pain killers.
