Summary if ³the dangers of dependence on complex technology² (pg 43)
This article discusses the potential risks of using computers and the
world
wide web. Such risks include people retrieving other people¹s personal
information for their own personal use. It discusses the copy right
issues
associated with software and all sorts of files such as music files and
movie
files. People download movies and music all the time and there is not
much
being done about it to stop this from happening. It mentions how
machines are
taking over people in the workplace and causing people around the world
to
loose their jobs or being laid off. Beekman also talks about how
technology
is not being spread as millions of people over the world have never
touched a
computer in their lifes and is resulting in some people being
information rich
and many others starving from information that can be easily accessible
from a
computer.
Problems of the future that may be caused my computers is discussed in
this
article. It talks about the amount of privacy and how it will decrease
as
time goes on with the creation of the latest surveillance networks and
other
security precautions. In summary, the article brings up the issue of
computer
overwhelming our lives and eventually (if not already) dominating our
lives to
the extent that the line between organism and machine has disappeared.

This article is very interesting and quite similiar to the one I wrote.
Computers and the internet have become a dominant force in our everyday
lives and are becoming increasingly more important with everyday.
However, they are also very useful and help make our lives more
efficient.

Its really hard to prevent people from downloading movie, mp3 from the
internet. However, I know that some of the music company have started a
program where people can pay to download the latest mp3 from the
company. I think that's a great idea, because althought it can't
prevent people from downloading, but it at least give those people that
are willing to pay for a chance to download without breaking the law.
Another reason that I think this is a great idea is because, sometimes,
there only few songs that are good in an ablum, and I love to have a
chance to create an album that are full of the songs that I like.
That's why I think this kind of program is a GREAT IDEA.
