There are two models a rigorous fermenter: BFERM
and a shortcut model: SFERM
the SFERM model is much easier to specify and use, however not as much
detail can be placed into this model, I.e. you cannot specify what
happens at each of the lag, growth, and stationary phases. However, I
get more troubles in terms of converging a BFERM reactor solution (much
like troubleshooting a frac tower).
Using the SFERM model will atleast allow us to move on with more of the
simulation, and less parameters are required too, however, will this
model be too simple for the purposes of the project?

Fill in the flowsheet with the simplest unit blocks that will get your
simulation up and running. Once the overall process is running you can go
back and specify more detailed models (e.g. fedbatch feeding)
