I've been playing around with the Aspen bioprocess simulations and came across
a number of problems. I'm using the SFERM model as suggested by Kenton which
seems to .

I'm having lots of problems with choosing parameter values for the unit
operations in Aspen.

Here's a quick summary of some of my problems:

1. RE: Cell Disruption (for Yeast Cells) - Model: DISRUPTOR

I tried using the DISRUPTOR model in Aspen since I assumed it would
act as a bead mill. The model requires a number of parameters which
I'm not sure where to find:

These include: Pressure, Model Type (Hetherington?), rate constants
for model, Yield coefficients on released components....

Also, in my simulation, I've found that the DISRUPTOR model destroys
all my yeast and then when I send the stream to the centrifuge there
is no yeast left to separate from the protein (since it has all been
destroyed) and then I get errors for zero yeast flow into the
disruptor.

2. RE: Centrifuge - Model: CENTRI

I'm not sure what to specify for correlation parameters (ie. Coef1 and
Coef2).

Also, does the protein come out in the concentrate stream or in the
effluent.

any help would be appreciated. THANKS.

Conrad
