<td><b>Title : Illustrated Consent Agreements</b></br>

<br>
<B>Abstract:</b>Consent agreements tend to be lengthy, text-based
documents describing the
terms agreed to when using a piece of software. These terms can range from
legal conditions to privacy terms to risks involved in participating in an
experimental study. As important as these agreements are, recent research
suggests that less than 2% of users actually take time to read them.

In this talk, I present Illustrated Consent Agreements as a way to
increase
the chance that people under the substantive content of a consent
agreement.
I demonstrate the concept with the illustrations developed to accompany
ingimp's consent agreement. These illustrations occupy a distinct
communication niche. As such, I describe our design process and the
techniques we employed to help people teach themselves how to read the
illustrations.

<!--
If you are going to modify the list of upcoming conferences, I
encourage you to do the following:

1. Edit the file /p/WebTree2/agendas/upcoming.xml instead
of Conferencs.html. The format should be obvious.

2. Log into a CGL Linux machine (such as ahab), cd to
/p/cgl/meetings/agenda and run the script
/p/cgl/meetings/agenda/make_upcoming.

BE NICE TO YOUR FELLOW LABMATES AND KEEP THIS UP TO DATE!

Have a nice day.
