These job offers are from a cohort of mine at DGP, Rob Lansdale, who now has
his own company. He has a renderman/3Dstudio-like rendering system, and
needs programmers to do porting, etc. but also some high-level targetted
application development.

Rob's company is really just him right now, but he has an excellent
product, and once he finds a good niche for it he should do well. I think
what he really needs are partners, actually :-)

Michael.

Hello Michael. I don't know if you're are the right person to forward this
job description to, but could you possibly post this to a location where
CGL students can view it? Thanks.

*** GENERAL BACKGROUND INFORMATION ***
**************************************

Okino Computer Graphics, Inc.
-----------------------------

Okino Computer Graphics is the developer of the NuGraf (tm) line of
3D computer graphics rendering products.

Our first product, the NuGraf Developer's 3D Toolkit, is a powerful 3D
graphics library providing full featured hierarchical database management,
modelling and high-quality "photo-realistic" rendering capabilities. The
toolkit provides for a robust and tightly integrated core of 'C' callable
routines which transform the most demanding mathematical 3D datasets into
photo-realistic images. It is marketed directly to software developers and
CAD/CAM companies.

Our second product, the NuGraf Rendering System, is a Microsoft Windows
application program which provides a full-featured graphical interface
to the underlying NuGraf Developer's 3D Toolkit. The product is geared
towards interactive data visualization, 3D scene layout and animation.

Our third product, High.Q, is a new and powerful 3d model converter which
allows accurate and true-to-spec conversions between the most popular industry
standard 3d model formats. These include Autodesk 3D Studio, AutoCAD DXF,
IGES, Lightwave, Renderman RIB, VRML and Wavefront. High.Q is unique among
3d model converters by being able to convert polygonal and non-polygonal
input data, as well as preserving all vertex normal information.

In total these three products contain over 300,000 lines of C code and
have been under development for 7 years. The toolkit has been in commercial
use for 2 years and the other two products will be released during February
1996.

**** GENERAL JOB REQUIREMENTS ****
************************************

Qualified candidates would ideally be university graduate students or
under-graduate students with appropriate training willing to work for a
minimum term of 3-4 months.

Starting dates of employment would be January 8, 1996.

In addition, since the bus route does not run too frequently in our industrial
complex area (our office is located 3 minutes from Terminal # 3 at Pearson
International Airport), the qualified candidates should have access to car or
bike transportation.

****************************
**** JOB DESCRIPTIONS ****
****************************

1) Geometry Import/Export Programmer
------------------------------------

The qualified candidate will be responsible for developing new 3d geometry
import and export filters to be used in conjunction with our NuGraf
Rendering System and High.Q software products. Development of these
filters are rather straightforward and only require some cursory knowledge
of 3d computer graphics but a good understanding of data stream parsing.
The development of a typical import filter will require you to read and
understand a document describing the file format, then to implement a C
program which will read the file format and convert the data into a form
understood by the NuGraf software.

The following skills are mandatory:

- Excellent knowledge of the 'C' language,
- Previous experience dealing with data stream parsing. Knowledge
of YACC and Lex would be useful but is not a prerequisite,
- Ability to write, debug and maintain complex 'C' programs,
- General knowledge of 3d computer graphics concepts and programming,
- Good written and spoken English.

2) 3D Computer Graphics Programmer
----------------------------------

The qualified candidate will be responsible for a series of programming
tasks relating to the NuGraf Developer's 3D Toolkit. As such, we are looking
for a very bright, independent and mathematically minded C programmer who is
willing to learn from and work with the primary NuGraf software developer.

The primary programing tasks are,

- Continue development of the NuGraf ray tracer which is currently
in the alpha stage of development,
- Possibly aid in the implementation of new animation capabilities
being added to NuGraf Rendering System software,
- Handle the occasional technical support question about the NuGraf
toolkit.

The following skills are mandatory:

- Excellent knowledge of the 'C' language,
- Ability to write, debug and maintain large amounts of 'C' code,
- Knowledge of 3D computer graphics mathematical concepts,
- Good knowledge of ray tracing concepts and space partitioning,
- Willingness and ability to learn quickly,
- Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills,
- Excellent analytical and project management skills,
- Good written and spoken English.

3) 3D Computer Graphics Sales Person
------------------------------------

The qualified candidate will be responsible for following through on sales
leads for our three software products. This will involve telephone contact
with prospective software developers, sending out marketing literature and
handling possible technical support questions.

The following skills are desirable:

- Previous experience in the area of technical sales,
- Knowledge of 3D computer graphics concepts,
- Independent and responsible manner,
- Willingness and ability to learn 3D graphics concepts,
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills,
- Good written and spoken English.
