Dear Citizens,

As you are aware that United Way of Mumbai has been functioning as the
Third Party Auditor for Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai’s
Clean-Up Mumbai Campaign. Key responsibilities of United Way of Mumbai
in this campaign are to interact with Solid Waste Management
Department, Municipal Ward Officers, and Clean – Up Marshal Agencies,
NGOs and citizens’ groups towards building a public movement around
the campaign. It also have been building and cementing public –
private partnerships with various stakeholders at ward level. Efforts
are made to orient the citizens about the campaign and mobilize
active
participation of key stakeholders towards improving the state of
cleanliness and civic issues.

As part the campaign we are mobilizing concerned citizens of 'A ward'
for mapping chronic areas (spots where litter is dumped frequently) in
'A ward'. The activity will be carried with the help of Clean-Up
Marshals of 'A ward'. Similar mapping have been carried out at Colaba
(kindly refer findings in the discussion section dated 31/12/09).
Cuffe Parade and Churchgate areas would be mapped on thursday
25/02/10.

The following are steps after identifying chronic spots:

 Mapping the Chronic area with the help of Clean-Up Marshals and
Local citizens.
 Preparing a list of such chronic spots.
 Identifying local ALMs, Citizens group, Housing Society near to
the chronic spot.
 Preparing a plan of action on three party bases Citizens, Clean-
Up, Marshals and
M.C.G.M to keep that particular spot clean
