Hi everyone,

Last round of events for the quarter - hope to see you at some!

1) Paper Sale: Wednesday, December 9th from 11:00 to 1:00 outside of the HUB

Come chat it up with ISO members and get the newest edition of our biweekly newspaper, Socialist Worker (http://socialistworker.org/).  We'll have a table setup with all sorts of revolutionary literature to checkout as well.

2) SOLE meeting: Wednesday, December 9th at 5:30 in the School of Social Work on the UW campus (room B14)

Help us plan what steps SOLE should take next on campus and in the broader UW community to further protect the rights of LGBT people.  There’s lots to discuss, and fresh ideas are welcome!

3) Weekly Branch Meeting: Wednesday, December 9th at 7:00 in the School of Social Work on the UW campus (room B14)

A People's History of Seattle Series:

The First Battle in Seattle – The 1919 Seattle General Strike

Everyone knows that November 30 marks the 10th anniversary of the "Battle in Seattle" protests against the WTO. 40,000 plus trade unionists, environmentalists, anarchists, socialists and other protesters united to shut down the WTO. Fewer know about the first "Battle in Seattle": the 1919 Seattle General Strike. For five days in February over 100,000 workers not only struck, but they ran the city without the bosses or the government’s approval. Mass kitchens fed over 30,000 a day. Limited laundry services and garbage collection for hospitals and milk deliveries for families were provided. For a brief time Seattle workers showed the power an organized working class has. Join us for a discussion on the lessons to be learned from both the 10th anniversary of the WTO protests and the 90th anniversary of the General Strike!

4) Rally for Healthcare and Abortion Rights!: Saturday, December 12th at 2:00 at Occidental Park (Occidental Ave. S and S Main St.)

The healthcare bill passed in the House of Representatives a few weeks ago included an amendment which severely restricts abortion services for women.  The Senate is now considering similar restrictions in their bill.  Let’s rally in support of a strong healthcare bill, one that doesn’t attack women’s rights!  Hosted by NARAL Pro-Choice Washington.

5) LIVE Showing of “The People Speak”: Sunday, December 13th, 7:00pm at the house at 1819 Harvard Ave, lower unit (Click for Directions)
