Hello Haiti Team,
As you all know, a group of 6 of
our members, including myself, recently spent 9 days in Bayonnais. During the
trip, some new information was discovered that directly affected our
pico-hydro project and the longevity of its success. Our travel team
was put in the position of making a difficult decision with very
limited access to the consultation of the rest of our team or
project advisers. Within the first few days of the trip, we made the decision to halt the implementation of the pico-hydro on the St Cyr River (Voodoo River).
During the remainder of the trip, we launched an
effort to reassess our ability to serve the needs of the community by
speaking extensively with multiple community leaders. Also, we
completed the full survey of the clinic site and gathered the
information needed to construct a permanent repair to a pipe river
crossing. Our progress in this endeavor was fruitful, and we are ready to move forward with a number of new project ideas.
Over the next few weeks, we will be reestablishing
the direction of our group. We will hopefully commit to a single
project idea. Some of these ideas include building a pico-hydro
very similar to the previous design in a different location and
constructing a permanent solution to a problematic drinking water pipe
river crossing.
Please be vocal and provide your input to help
determine our groups direction. We will plan on having a meeting in the
next week and I will keep you in touch.
