PAID INTERNSHIPS
Saigon Broadcasting Television Network (SBTN) is the first 24-hour Vietnamese television network in North America. By offering a broad variety of originally-produced and acquired programming in Vietnamese language including news, drama, movies, variety, talk shows, kids programming and documentaries, SBTN is able to attract viewers from all segments of Vietnamese society.
SBTN is working to increase the participation of young talented Vietnamese American youths in broadcasting and television industry. We are looking for interns to work side by side with producers, directors, and other staff and crew. As an intern with SBTN you will have the unique opportunity to be a real part of a network leading in Vietnamese American media. You will also gain the kind of experience that great careers are built on, giving you the edge in a competitive industry.
REQUIREMENTS:
- The ideal candidates will have an interest in learning the intricacies of broadcasting, journalism.
- Enrolled in a Bachelor's/Masters program at an accredited college or university
- 18 years or older and current sophomore standing or above
- Able to receive academic credit from their college or university prior to starting assignment
- Bilingual and bi-cultural individuals preferred
- Commit to a minimum of 3 days per week either on a part-time or full-time basis
- Stipend may be available upon successful completion of 50 hours.
- Interns will be the first to be considered for open positions with SBTN.
INTERNSHIP POSITIONS:
Red Carpet Intern
- Help staff reporter at red carpet events, movie premiers, celebrity interviews
- Able to work after-hours and weekends
- Opportunity to be on-screen if necessary
- Knowledge of entertainment, pop-culture and current events
Newsroom Intern
· Work closely with the team’s Producers and will perform various Production Assistant functions such as: answering phones, logging tape, researching story ideas, printing scripts, retrieving video.
· Knowledge of politics, history, entertainment and current events
Primetime Intern
- Research & help work on production elements for our programming
- Will work with Producers to produce key elements of the show such as graphics and scripts
- Some television experience an asset
- Knowledge of politics, history, entertainment and current events
Technical Operations Intern
· Will receive hands-on instruction with staff supervision in Editing (cuts-only, Avid, Online and Non-Linear), Studio Operations (Camera, Stage Managing, Teleprompter, Studio Lighting), Control Room Operations (Technical Director, Audio, Video, Playback, Electronic Graphics), and Remote Operations (Live Shot coordination, Satellite/Fiber feeds, field logistics).
· Candidate should have production course work in related areas of interest or relevant experience
On-Air Graphics Intern
· Will assist in the research and creation of graphics for all SBTN programs that will be used on-air
· Will receive hands on experience with the latest graphics equipment and software
· Knowledge of basic computer skills.
· Photoshop and Internet experience is a plus
· Interest in electronic graphics.
· Knowledge of politics, history, entertainment, news and current events
Marketing, Communications and Public Relations Intern
- Assist with planning, developing, and implementing marketing strategies, communications, and public relations activities.
- Must possess people skills and be comfortable meeting and talking with and talking to large groups of people.
- Knowledge of politics, history, entertainment, news and current events
POSITION AVAILABLE: For immediate hire
Videographer/Editor (PT/FT)
· Operate, carry and maintain all assigned A/V equipment.
- Provide video and audio coverage/documentation with quality equal to commercial industry standards
- Edit material for studio and remote production.
- Acting as a backup for various technical positions
- Able to meet deadlines
- Have strong creative and technical standards
- Creative self-starter
- At least one-year experience
- Bilingual, bi-cultural strongly preferred
- Able to work nights and weekends as needed
- Position will lead to permanent and full-time depending on performance
- Compensation: depending on experience
