What is the CoRR?
A collection of regional representatives of the 12 regions, set forth by uNAVSA, across North America. The CoRR act as the face of uNAVSA in their respective regions whom act as a medium in which information can be passed between uNAVSA and the smaller VSA and other related organizations, as well as implement initiatives, projects, and ideas among those in the regions including: regional summits, fundraising events, awareness, and MUCH more.
In addition to regional responsibilities the CoRR are able to advanced uNAVSA through several channels.
uNAVSA Strategic Planning Committee - Chaired by the President, the Strategic Planning Committee (“SPC”) is responsible for facilitating the identification, development and self-evaluation of uNAVSA’s overall direction and vision. SPC identifies the unmet needs of the general Vietnamese community and develops initiatives to use uNAVSA’s network and resources for relevant programming. Additionally, SPC liaises with other organizations (e.g. community-based, non-governmental, not-for-profit, etc.) to identify collaborative measures that would advance the broader Asian Pacific Islander American (“APIA”) community.
uNAVSA Policy Committee - Chaired by the External Vice President (“EVP”), the Policy Committee (“Policy”) proactively addresses issues challenging the Vietnamese community and the broader APIA community. Policy also reactively responds to events and issues with the objective of defining uNAVSA’s position. Policy is also responsible for engaging the Vietnamese and APIA community to create awareness amongst and educate our constituencies. Policy creates the internal agenda for policy decisions and facilitates the defining of consensus within uNAVSA of when and how to respond to external community issues.
CPP Committee - Chaired by the Internal Vice President (“IVP”), CPP Committee (“CPP”) engages each year’s CPP project beneficiary and director(s) to provide the full extent of uNAVSA’s resources and networks to facilitate communication and promote fundraising for the success of the CPP campaign. CPP also supports the selection of the annual CPP project director(s) and is integral in the selection process of each year’s CPP beneficiary candidates (who are then selected at the annual conference). More specifically, CPP assists in creating application guidelines, interviewing and evaluating initial CPP candidates, defining fair voting procedures and liaising directly with previous CPP beneficiaries for follow up.
uNAVSA Public Relations - Chaired by the Secretary, the PR Committee (“PR”) liaises with the external community to represent and promote the uNAVSA brand, maintaining consistent communication to established regions and identifying information disparities in developing regions. PR elaborates uNAVSA’s mission and vision to communities and organizations across North America to foster the development of uNAVSA’s presence and wider network. PR actively promotes uNAVSA’s programming initiatives, including the annual conference and the CPP project. PR also responds to inquiries for information (e.g. interviews, etc).
