On behalf of Paul Gross (the keeper of the smackdown) we are
glad to invite any and all to the saturday smackdown (which next
week may be held on a sunday, but details on that later).
So, for those new to this - what is the smackdown?
It is a self managed extremely informal race. From now till
September we do side by side pieces over the course. Starting
September we row head races down to the Dartmouth dock.
This saturday we plan on doing
2x500, 2x1000.
This is subject to negotiation at the start line.
To participate: be at the starting line (basically at the south end of the
Kendal dock) at 730 am on Saturday. If there is a large turnout we will self organize
in different flights. After every piece we regroup.
People typically row in singles, doubles and quads, but any boat
is welcome. Anyone can participate - it is a great way to get
the competitive juices flowing. Don't worry about being slow - if you are there
you will be faster than everyone who did not come!
Looking forward to type 2 fun!
Paul and Roelof
