Hi all!

The UV Walk to End Alzheimers Row is this weekend, but the Ride is Saturday, Oct 3.

Why do the ride?

It's a nice route and Andy is really, really great. I've been riding with him on Wednesday nights (WNR - Wednesday Night Ride) for more than a few years now and look forward to spending part of each ride with him.

Double your Alzheimers Awareness Efforts.

Cycling is excellent cross training for rowing.

Since I'm going to be at a regatta in Worcester with my team that day, I'll have to do a Virtual version. But hoping you can help Kathy and Andy as they lead this important effort.

Thanks,
Linda

Hi Linda,

I hope you are doing well and your new job as the rowing coach at Simmons is going great!  What a cool opportunity!

In the hopes there are some row team members that might road bike, I was hoping you could send notice to the UV Row team for the Walk about this year's bike team and bike ride on Sat Oct 3rd (details below).  Similar to what you did last year that resulted in a few riders joining the bike team from the rowing world.  Copied Kathy given I know she's a part of the rowing world as well.

The bike team set a goal to double the number of riders this year to 30 (from last year's 15 riders).  We are on our way to reaching that goal with 18 registered riders, but could use some help to get into the 20s count.

This of course includes a personal invite to you to join the ride if you aren't in Boston coaching your row team or otherwise engaged.  From our UVCC WNR rides together, you are one of the best at taking in-ride videos of fellow bikers 😄.

To register for the team, use this link: http://act.alz.org/goto/BiketoEndALZ

We will do a post-ride lunchtime celebration at Stella's restaurant, so come do the ride and enjoy a beer (and some appetizers) with me and the bike team post-ride 🚴👍.

Thanks, Andy Clark

Hello bike team for the 2026 Upper Valley Bike to End Alzheimers,

We are excited you choose to join the UV Bike team for the UV Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®.  Thank you!!🙏👍 With summer sadly coming to a close and our ride 3+ weeks away, I wanted to get in touch with the bike team.

I know many of you, but my name is Andy Clark.  I've been working with Kathy and Sarah this summer to get our ride team and ride plans in place for 2026.  It's the 2nd year of our bike team and bike ride for the UV Walk to End Alz and we are excited you choose to participate.  We are riding to provide for the care and raise funds for research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®.

The Ride Date is Saturday Oct 3rd, 2026. The ride starts and ends in the public parking lot next to Stella's Restaurant in Lyme NH.  The Lyme 'Park and Ride' parking lot is located at 5 Main St, Lyme, NH 03768.

Plan to arrive around 8:30 for pre-ride "ceremony" and ride safety info before we head out at 9am.  Plan to stay after the ride for a post-ride celebration at Stellas!

I have included links below to 2 Strava web sites where you can do a virtual video ride of the 20 or 30 mile ride routes
Click on the orange arrow on the bottom right of the ride route picture (see the screen shot of the web site below for where to click)

This is a 'No Drop' ride meaning we will stop and re-group at points along the ride so no-one gets left behind.  We have a "sweeper" to help ensure everyone is together and safe.  Also, this is a casual ride to enjoy the views of the CT river and raise awareness for Alzheimer's along the route - wear purple if you have it!
  • There are 2 major stops on the ride including the town green in Fairlee (at mile 9) and Cedar Circle Farm (at mile 17)

  • We plan to take ~15-20 minutes at Cedar Circle Farm to grab a coffee or pastry and meet your fellow riders.  This will give riders ample rest, water, snacking opportunities, and a chance to share your connection to Alzheimer's or the ride team

  • Through the generosity of Omer & Bob's bike shop, we will have a "bike tech" at the Lyme 'Park and Ride' parking lot before the ride.  He will also join us on the ride route in case anyone has any bike related issues
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to email me at and...@clark90.net.  I will be sending out additional emails in the next few weeks.

Your support will make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.  See you on October 3rd!

Thank You, Andy Clark

It is amazing how the Upper Valley comes together to standup against this disease.  You can row, walk, bike, bake, whatever activity you want!  All to stand with your community against Alzheimer's.

So please join us on the 26th, join the bikers on 10/3, come to the walk 10/25 - mix and match as you see fit!
