Hello UVRF!

Quick update on the UVRF Spring Junior Racing Program, including last weekend's race, installing our neighbor's dock; home race schedule, Prouty Car Wash/Bake Sale event!:

1. This past weekend the juniors raced at the Bald Eagle Sprints in Hooksett, NH against Derryfield, Baboosic Lake Rowing Club and Amoskeag Rowing Club. It was a full program with the kids all racing sweep and sculling events (1x, 2x, 4x). Lots of unloading/rigging/unrigging/loading, with both ends happening in the rain. The varsity girls dominated the sweep events, and the boys and girls novices also won their 4+s events. And an eagle flew overhead during the coaches and coxswains meeting. It was a wet day:

The parents provided amazing food, the kids pitched in to help each other rig, launch, land and be successful - a great day all around.

2. UVRF Jr. Racing Team - Neighbors helping Neighbors Dock Install

As we do every year, the Spring Jr. Racing team helps our Kendal Riverfront Park neighbors, Sergio and Andrea Siani, install their dock. (In the fall, the Fall Jr. Racing Team helps them take it out.) The Sianis (and before them, the Podolec's) thank the team by providing pizza and lemonade after practice. This year, the juniors asked that instead of pizza, a donation be made to their Prouty fundraising efforts for the Upper Valley Rowing and Friends Prouty Team - which they very generously did!

3. The Junior Racing Team car wash/bake sale Prouty fundraiser is SATURDAY MAY 16 FROM 10a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at 85 Mechanic St. in Lebanon, NH

The junior racing team holds this event every year to raise money for the Prouty. The goal is to meet every single athlete's $50 fundraising minimum (so $2,250), which they have always managed to meet and/or exceed. Get a clean car, buy a yummy baked good (hint: Katie of Katie's Cookies in Lebanon is the parent of 2 of our rowers......) and donate what you can to support the kids. Cash or Venmo accepted! If you can't make it and want to support the kids, you can Venmo me and I'll make sure it gets to their Prouty accounts:

4.  SPEAKING OF THE PROUTY:
  • The special Mclaughlin 2:1 early registration match for individuals who register for our Upper Valley Rowing and Friends Prouty Team has been extended until May 17! If you join our Prouty team before May 17, our team sponsor will match up to $250 of donations (if the fundraising minimum is met, and excluding Byrne Foundation matches). This only applies to donations made to individual team participants, not to donations made to the team.
  • We have ANOTHER donor who wants to encourage YOUTH (U19) participation, and will make a $50 donation to any U19 participant just for registering for the Prouty and joining our UVRF & Friends Prouty Team. They will make an additional donation to U19 team members who get 3 unique donations of $10 or more. DEADLINE IS MAY 10.
