Salaam everyone,
This past Saturday at the Hawthorne Health Fair, we experienced an embarrassing situation. There were two volunteers at the health fair that were dressed very inappropriately at the masjid, as they had misunderstood the "casual" dress code of the event. This made some of the visitors uncomfortable, and left
the clinic staff really embarrassed.
Although most of our volunteers are Muslim and understand appropriate attire, we do have a handful of non-Muslim volunteers that we need to be mindful of. It's important for us to communicate the expected dress code when volunteers are dealing with patients, all of which is written in the UVP Manual. For incoming admin, please be sure to emphasize this area of the manual when conducting orientations next year.
Also, I wanted to make sure that everyone is on the same page as far as transitioning goes. Current admin, be sure have at least one transitioning meeting with incoming admin by the end of the year. It is both the current and incoming admin's responsibility to ensure this meeting is held. For incoming site directors, Aneeq and Ahmed, be sure to attend site at least once by the end of the year. If anyone needs a certain admin's contact information or has trouble getting a hold of them, be sure to let me know.
Please don't hesitate to contact me at any time if you have any questions!
Thanks,
-
