Greetings,
I am writing to gauge your interest in possibly attending a 2 or 3-day CommunityViz software training event that would be organized here in Vermont – hopefully at the Middlebury College GIS lab.
Some of you may remember back to the summer of 2000 when The Orton Family Foundation organized the first-ever CommunityViz training event, which also took place at the Middlebury GIS lab. That training event led to the successful testing and subsequent commercial release of CommunityViz for ArcView 3.x.
Fast forward to March 2004 …… after the initial success of CommunityViz, The Orton Family Foundation opened a new CommunityViz headquarters in Boulder, Colorado and then assembled a new software development team to craft a second generation of CommunityViz software products that run on ESRI’s new ArcGIS platform. The new CommunityViz core module is called Scenario360 and it does everything that the old Scenario Constructor did…. Only more!.... especially when it comes to presentation tools. And for those of you that value virtual 3D visualization, the new generation of CommunityViz tools includes an updated SiteBuilder3D. The new SiteBuilder3D is ideal for using your GIS data to create visually realistic 3D scenes. The new SiteBuilder3D also features the ability to export 3D scenes with a free viewer software that anybody with a decent computer can use. For more info on the new generation of CommunityViz tools for ArcGIS, visit www.communityviz.com .
As far as learning to use the new CommunityViz tools, we plan to schedule a Vermont training event in either late May, early June, or sometime in July. Scheduling a specific time will depend on when interested parties are able to attend and when the Middlebury GIS lab is available.
If you might be interested in attending a 2-day CommunityViz training event here in Vermont, please respond to this email letting me know which weeks (from those listed above) you would be available. The training would be limited to approximately 8-10 parties (1 party per computer, 2 people max per computer). Training costs would be divided evenly between attending parties. For example, an 8-party training would run approximately $500 per party. Attendees would have to cover all costs associated with travel, meals, and lodging.
Feel free to call me with any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
