We, i.e., Accounting and Treasurer Offices, are moving our offsite
records from mini-storage garages to Archives Management Systems in
Winooski. For essentially the same cost of renting 3 damp, either cold
or hot garages - depending on the time of year (with occasional small
animal residents) we are getting at Archives. . .
- clean, secured, climate controlled records warehouse storage space
(on ceiling to floor shelving),
- each box and or file is barcoded as is its location in the storage
area,
- your records are maintained in a records mgmt database which you can
access via the web, and which via the web you can request to have a file
or box of files retrieved and delivered to you, and
- the disposal/shreding of records is handled by Archives (they alert
us when records will be destroyed - requesting our approval to do so)
we do not have to remember to notify them to do so. This alone is worth
it!
Frank Bernardini (Archives manager) has set up a nice operation. He is
very interested in establishing a business relationship with UVM. If
you are looking to get out of the mini-storage situation as we were, or
are interested in getting archived records secured out of your UVM
space, or are tired of managing and destroying records yourself, I
