we will be setting up sybase database servers on two sun e4500's connected
to sun's t3 storage bricks. each of the e4500's will provide a separate
database for two separate but related applications. in the event that one
e4500 fails, the other will take over that machine's database.
the tools employed for this setup are as follows:
- sybase 12.0 with the high availability option on each machine.
- sun solaris 8 on each machine.
- sun cluster 2.2 on each machine.
- sun t3 storage bricks connected via a pair of san switches.
veritas volume manager, file system, quick i/o are also being considered.
i wanted to get feedback from administrators who
have considered / have evaluated / are using / have used
the t3 storage bricks, the sybase 12.0 ha feature, and sun cluster 2.2.
please desribe your experiences, positive and negative, including
satisfaction with sun's service.
all your help is sincerely appreciated.
thanks,
yash
