Software depots are actually tar files. Just use tar -tvf to read the
contents.

Same command.
NOTE: A true software depot is an uncompressed tar file. However, patches
(for instance) are bundled into a compressed file with a text file to
document the patches.

The size of the depot is just the size of the file. The size "after install"
is not trivial, as it depends on what are replacements and what are
additions.
And a depot file is basically a tar file so you can list and/or extract
files
FROM it using plain tar. The pathnames are a bit strange as product and
fileset names are PREpended to the actual filename.
