Prevent over usage

I've started my free tier account and have my micro ec2 instance
going. Does anyone know if there is a way to ensure that I don't go
over any of the (generous) limits?

I'd rather not get a surprise bill if I do something wrong. This is
all non-critical and testing stuff. I'd rather it shutdown the
instance than charge me extra money if I do something wrong or my
wife's blog gets slashdotted (do sites still get slashdotted?)

I am not aware of any limiting features. Though I really have not looked. My micro goes over every once in a while and I get a bill for $0.03 or so. Not that big a deal really. Then again, I have not been slash dotted yet. :)
