Join the UUYA Advocacy Task Force!
Are you a young adult, do you work with young adults, or are you
someone who used to be involved with the young adult community? Get
involved in this group dedicated to improving the UU Young Adult
Network. The Task Force will work on learning what the needs are of
young adults across the continent, assess existing services and work
to improve the resources available to young adults. It was created
by
a continental group of Young Adults in June '08 with the purpose of
evaluating and potentially redesigning ministries and other resources
offered to young adults by the Unitarian Universalist Association.
Priorities for the Task Force are:
1) Promoting multigenerational, welcoming congregations
2) Assessment of young adult needs and existing services
3) Strategic thinking about and making recommendations to the
established sources of young adult services (i.e. UUA Office of Young
Adult Ministries, district and congregational staff, young adult
groups and networks, etc.) in order to advocate for the needs of UU
young adults
4) Deciding the role (or possible role) and function of CUUYAN or
another like Network
The time commitment would be a minimum of 1.5-2 hours a month for a
conference call and 3-4 hours of work per month aside from that. The
task force will issue a report in time for General Assembly 2009 and
will likely conclude its work shortly thereafter. If additional work
is required beyond that, task force members will have a choice as to
whether or not to stay for the additional period.
