We are clearly a passionate group! That is good as one should have passion for one’s views. At Thursday’s Board meeting. I will encourage the Board to endorse Harris’ suggestion that we arrange for conversations at the congregational level to discuss the BLM banner and related issues.
It has come to my attention that people on both sides of this issue have felt personally attacked. I am sure this was never anyone’s intention. Let me iterate what I think each of us believes, that the airing of all views is so very important. It supports our Seven Principles as it dignifies each speaker. Moreover, while opposing views may not change our own, they may lead us to question our underlying assumptions and refine our own arguments.
While this is probably not my purview, I invite you to the Healing Justice meeting tomorrow evening as HJ plans next Sunday’s service and to Laugh Night on Tuesday where we can relax and reconnect over lighter fare. Finally, I sincerely hope Patricia and Barb will hold another virtual Happy Hour on Friday as we may all need one after Thursday’s Board meeting!
