Hi all,One slight correction to this marvelous synopsis of upcoming climate change related sessions at UUCW.Re: Compost Meeting: Sunday Nov 10th, from 9-9:45 in meeting room #2, new congregational members Jessie and Alma Trowbridge, plus Betty Jenewin and Mara Pentlarge, will present a proposal for our church to start composting....
It's my understanding that we're going to begin a conversation about how we might start composting at UUCW. Respectfully, I think that "presenting a proposal" isn't where we're at yet.I think it's more accurate to say that we're beginning the conversation - tossing out ideas and sorting through them before deciding what direction we might take on this initiative.Should be an interesting conversation! All best,Betty-----------------------------------------

Hi Folks,
Following is a summary of last week's session, a preview of our upcoming 3rd session this Sunday and a reminder about a compost meeting Sunday morning.
Summary of last week’s Session #2:
The learning objectives were to explore our individual and collective ethics and values, and to discuss the impact on our planet's limited natural resources. To that end, we watched a video "The Story of Stuff" and we made a "reverse altar" with trash from our homes .We laid the groundwork for a discussion about the literal impact of our congregation for Session #3. We selected three areas to focus on, Energy, Water and Food. Information was sent with questions to consider on these 3 areas. Our homework assignment was to investigate these questions. This was an abbreviated session so participants could attend the "Green Agenda" meeting at Clark University.
Preview of Session #3:
The focus this week will be on Energy and mapping its impact on our congregation. We will watch the "Ah-ha" video and map the local sources of energy our congregation uses. We will discuss the ecological, social, health and economic consequences of this reliance. We will identify law, policies, and institutions, i.e., governmental, non-profit, and for-profit which relate to our congregation's actions. Kim McCoy will share his broad knowledge on this subject. Attached are the questions on energy that were sent out last week. Please investigate the answers to these questions to discover our congregation's relationship to energy sources and its impact on the community.
Compost Meeting: Sunday Nov 10th, from 9-9:45 in meeting room #2, new congregational members Jessie and Alma Trowbridge, plus Betty Jenewin and Mara Pentlarge, will present a proposal for our church to start composting, which is in alignment with this series of workshops We hope you can attend to support these people and this initiative.
