Harry Gantz (Co-Producer of "American Winter"), Lori Beamer (CoActive Connections Executive Director), and Chuck Sheketoff (Executive Director of the Oregon Center for Public Policy) before the showing of "American Winter" in Salem.
The Salem Progressive Film Series showed the documentary, American Winter, at the Grand Theatre in downtown Salem. It was a packed house! We had the opportunity to table and share information about our organization at the showing. The Gantz brothers (who directed and produced the film) were so artfully and statistically effective in sharing the experience of poverty with their audience that many people asked us after the viewing, "What can I do?" I would like to share some tools as starting points for conversations and action. Read more... |

Java Crew (Salem, OR) offering suspended coffee.
There's a story that has been circulating around about suspended coffee. What is suspended coffee, you ask?
Suspended coffee originated in Naples, Italy over 100 years ago. When you buy a coffee, purchase an extra coffee (called a suspended coffee) for someone who is unable to afford one. The next customer that comes in asking for a suspended coffee gets your gift. Some coffee shops extend suspended items to include food.
Where can I buy or receive a suspended coffee in Oregon? Read more...

| We updated our Mission Statement! |
|
Why did we change our Mission Statement? Our previous mission statement did not accurately reflect all that we accomplish and why we do the work that we do. Our previous mission statement was:
CoActive Connections promotes the eradication of poverty through education and collaboration. In addition, as a young organization, we are continuously refining our message. While our services remain the same, we wanted to ensure that our mission statement is a true reflection of our work.
What do you think about our new mission statement? |
