Death with Dignity law: I recently had the wonderful and moving experience of being with an old friend who used the Death with Dignity law to exit this life in a peaceful and happy way in his home among friends. He had terminal cancer and was going to die a very painful death in the next couple of months. Instead he chose to get his life in order, spend some quality time with his family and friends and die peacefully on his own terms.
We laughed and cried and he talked about his interesting life and how fortunate he was to have lived the way he did and to have good friends at his death. He took the cocktail and was asleep in a couple of minutes and dead in 15. I wish more people could see this experience and consider it for managing their end days.
