Willamette Valley Hospice will host the area’s first annual music therapy symposium March 1 and 2 at the offices of the nonprofit organization in West Salem.
The conference, “Sound Advice,” will educate health care workers and family caregivers on the benefits of music therapy in the care of seriously ill patients. It will also address how music can be used for the general renewal and relaxation.
March 1 will be dedicated to health care professionals and continuing education credits are available. It will run from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and include lunch. Registration fee is $40 until Feb. 15, $45 afterward.
March 2 will target family and friend caregivers and community members. The program will run from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and a $10 donation is suggested.
