Your state senator needs to hear that you support renewable energy in Oregon.
HB 2893A will add capacity to Oregon's Solar Pilot Program and extend the program for an additional year. Its passage is vital to continued solar momentum and solar jobs in Oregon.
At the beginning of the legislative session there was an attempt to repeal Oregon's popular Solar Pilot Program. Working with key stakeholders, OREP led a successful fight to defeat the program's repeal. Instead we were able to extend the Solar Pilot Program for an additional year, and were successful in adding capacity for larger residential solar systems and business systems.
HB 2893A passed the House by a 55-4 vote and has now been referred to the Senate floor with a "do pass" recommendation. Now is the time to email your senator and express your support for renewable energy in Oregon.
Here is what HB 2893A does:
- Extends the Solar Pilot Program for one year
- Adds capacity of 2.5 megawatts for solar PV electric systems 5-100 kW in size (medium commercial scale)
- No impact on general fund – No state tax credits
- Estimated rate impact on typical residential bill is .5¢/month (6¢ per year)
- Will save approximately 200 existing jobs
Please email your senator today! Use the talking points above to let him or her know that you support passage of HB 2893A and continued support for our solar industries, our economy, and our clean energy generation opportunities.
Working together for a livable future,
Mark Pengilly and the rest of the OREP team,
