Listmates,
My very good friend, Toby Oppenheimer, directed a fascinating documentary executively producted by Steve Buscemi and Stanley Tucci. They are seeking outside funding sources. If this is something that interests you (and if you continue reading, you will be interested) - please see the additional information and link below for a free clip of the film and more.
Here is the link to the campaign page and trailer for the film:

Directed by Dana Flor and Toby Oppenheimer (The Nine Lives of Marion Barry/HBO) and executive produced by Steve Buscemi and Stanley Tucci, the film is about the Check It, the only documented gay African-American gang in the country -- possibly in the world -- struggling to survive in one of Washington D.C.'s most violent neighborhoods.
Once victims of relentless bullying, the young gay and transgender members of the Check It decided in 2005 to band together, turn the tables on their aggressors, and literally fight back. The film follows five childhood friends, founding members of the gang, as they look for a way out and discover an unlikely lifeline: fashion.
Flor and Oppenheimer’s company, Macro Pictures, is producing Check It alongside Olive Productions (Wren Arthur, Steve Buscemi, and Stanley Tucci) and RadicalMedia (The Fog of War, Concert for George).
Thanks,
Doug
