I had 6 stitches to close the wound.  It was a flesh cut, pretty deep and bloody as you could tell.   No nerve or tendon damage.  I will have the stitches removed on Jan 15.
I hope the rest of you will be careful with Bill's knives.

You should get an e mail request to use Sign Up Genius to confirm that you can come help us.  My hope is that we will be sure and have at least 10 people each time.

This experience also led me to discover that we should carry a small first aid kit along with cooking supplies - stocked with band aids, gauze, disinfectant, maybe burn treatment, etc.  What do y'all think?

I also found that the Weaver House kitchen has an inadequately stocked first aid kit in its office. Though I pointed this out at the front desk, I don't know if that was addressed. I hope so. And they are so busy at the front desk it takes a long time to get first aid supplies from them. I'm glad Ken's injuries weren't life threatening, but I'd be inclined to call 911 if anyone seemed at great risk.

Just sayin'.

GREAT idea, Bill!  And thanks to the quick thinking of Sharin.  I DID find in the the GUM knife box one knife that was decent for the cantaloupe.  Will remember to take my sharp knife from home again, tho!

What was Bill's idea? I missed it.
Thanks,

Sharon, based on what we just experienced, I would agree with you. We have a small first aid kit in our office and I think they are in the $10-15 range. I am surprised that Weaver House didn’t have one as I would think this would be a must with all the people working in the kitchen and possible mishapps.

They had one, but it hardly had any supplies in it. Hope they replenished it, but we need to be prepared in case they aren't.
