Beer night — this Monday at Dominick’s at 7 pm

There have been a flurry of comments noting the absence of local bar/restaurant trivia in our men’s beer night announcements. 

Before this becomes an issue at our next congregational meeting, here’s a fun fact relating to this Monday’s location – Dominick’s.

Dominick DeVarti opened his restaurant in 1959. In the 1960s, he opened another location in Ypsilanti with a partner. Shortly afterwards, his partner suggested developing franchised delivery locations also to be called Dominick’s. When Dominick wasn’t interested, his partner Tom Monaghan eventually bought him out of Ypsi location and changed the name to Dominos. The rest is history.

Now that your involuntary Wikipedia article is out of the way this is your reminder that this month’s UU men’s beer night is at Casa Dominick’s this Monday, July 21 at 7 pm. The location is 812 Monroe in Ann Arbor. They don’t have their own lot, but there’s lots of available street parking. It should be a nice night, and hope to see you there.
