And the 180+ year old treaties between the US and Canada regarding borders, demilitarizing the Great Lakes, and many more recent treaties/agreements on water quality, air quality, hazardous waste, ...though they all seem to be on a bit shakier ground at the moment.

So much for peace. How about the 1959 Treaty of Antarctica, when 12 nations agree to preserve Antarctica for peaceful, scientific use only? Or the 1997 Kyoto Protocol on reducing greenhouse gases?
